Holy Week Services
This was the first year FedUp held Triduum services. What a special and holy week it was! Palm SundayTo kick off Holy Week, we held a special LiftUp service on Wednesday, 3/25 in recognition of Palm Sunday, where community members had the opportunity to decorate and wave their own palms in celebration of when Jesus rode through Jerusalem on a donkey in peaceful protest of empire's violent ways. Holy Wednesday and Maundy ThursdayWednesday we prepared a handwashing station to replicate what Jesus did when he washed his disciples' feet. We also engaged in a Passion Narrative Dramatization of the Last Supper and the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. On Maundy Thursday, Pastor Anna and the FedUp Team joined the Ypsilanti Mainline Protestant Churches in hosting a potluck and worship service at First Pres. Between the five congregations present (First Presbyterian, Emmanuel Lutheran, St. Luke's Epsicopal, and First United Methodist, and of course FedUp Ministries), over $500 was raised for our work. Thank you to our amazing church partners for your continued support! Good FridayOn Good Friday, Pastor Anna, Pastor Dave, and Sheri of PeaceHouse led a walking journey through Ypsilanti titled “Stations of the Cross Where Christ is Being Crucified Today”, inspired by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church’s yearly Good Friday Walk in Detroit. Participants journeyed to multiple “stations” or locations that represent the different inequities and struggles our community faces. These stops were where we reflected, prayed, sang, and engaged in dialogue, drawing parallels to the crucifixion Jesus faced. We ended the day with a meal at First Baptist Church in Ypsi, reflecting upon these experiences and our expansive partnership across this community. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this powerful journey! Easter SundayWe ended Holy Week with a special Easter LiftUp service, celebrating Jesus’ resurrection and the meaning of new birth, hope, and victory over sin and hardship. Afterward, we shared a meal with our partners at First Pres. Those breakfast burritos were great! Thank you to everyone who came to our Holy Week services! |
