Khari Brown is a sociology professor at Wayne State University, where he teaches classes on the sociology of religion. He has also written numerous articles for academic and commercial presses, as well as two books on the intersection between race, religion, and social justice. He regularly consults with the Pew Research Center’s Religion Surveys. In addition to studying religion, he is actively engaged in religious communities; he is a member of Bethel AME of Ann Arbor and Central UMC of Detroit. He is also a community organizer with WeROC / MOSES and the People’s Water Board / Michigan Welfare Rights, two faith-based community organizing groups located in Metropolitan Detroit.
